Other Projects:

Community Tree Planting

So far we have held over a dozen community tree planting days, involving over a hundred different participants including young people from deprived areas and homeless folk from the People’s Kitchen. We have planted over two and a half thousand trees in nine locations throughout the north east and have facilitated a sense of empowerment and connection to the land for our participants.

100 Trees

Based on a system of pledging, individuals are encouraged to pledge to plant 100 trees within a time frame they set for themselves. Land is pledged for tree planting and an agreement is made to not remove or damage the trees. Money and trees are pledged. 100 Trees acts as a space to collect the pledges and assign trees and people to plots which they are able to access.

Dwarf  Birch Propagation

We have been collecting Dwarf Birch seeds from remote sites in Northumberland in Autumn 2017 to germinate in our tree nurseries and donate to upland reforestation projects in the North East helping to ensure the survival of England’s rarest tree.

Tree Tube Removal

We have been working on a project to assess the viability of tree tube reuse. We will be assisting in the removal of tree tubes then reusing them on other sites to see if they last long enough to be viable as a reuse project as we look to find ways to reforest large areas without any wastage of plastic or with minimum use of plastic.

Tree Nursery

We currently care for over 2,000 hardwood saplings across various small sites. Our aim is to establish a permanent tree nursery to allow even more people in the region to plant locally grown trees.
